How Are Profhilo and Fillers Different?
Are Profhilo and fillers the same thing? In the game of trying to stay youthful and radiant, more and more people are turning to injectable treatments to reverse signs of ageing - and two popular go-tos are Profhilo and fillers. But, even though there are similarities between them, the two are actually very different anti-ageing treatments. So, let’s break them down...
What is Profhilo?
Profhilo is the 'acceptable injectable'. It is the new injectable on the block which targets dullness and all the things we have to look forward to as we age, like lines and wrinkles, skin laxity and skin laxity/ loss of fullness (sigh). And, just like most fillers, hyaluronic acid is also the main player here, being injected into 10 different points of the face (5 on each side). What are fillers?
Even if you’re not entirely sure what fillers are, the name’s pretty self-explanatory. So, to save boring you with a lengthy description, I’ll keep it short.
Essentially, hyaluronic acid (HA), a gel-like substance that’s naturally found in our skin, is injected into different points of the face to minimise wrinkles, modify features like the nose and lips, and contour areas of the face. Note: not all dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, but it’s the most popular choice.

What’s the difference between Profhilo and fillers?
But, even though both fillers and Profhilo involve HA being injected into the face to undo signs of ageing, this is where the similarities stop. Let’s look at some differences between the treatments to help you tell your Profhilo from your fillers.
The Profhilo and fillers benefits are different
Whilst dermal fillers are used for altering the shape of facial features (goodbye, bumpy nose and hello, plump lips), replacing lost volume due to ageing and contouring, Profhilo doesn’t have any role in volumising or restructuring the face. So, what is Profhilo used for? Think of it like this: Profhilo is like taking a really hydrating moisturiser and, instead of slathering it on top of your skin, injecting it into your skin, helping to make it supple and hydrated from the inside. So, it provides your skin with intense moisturisation and rejuvenation - and this is why it’s often referred to as injectable skincare. Who doesn’t like the sound of that?
